Jack and Adaptor

Looking for a Jack to change wheels and clean up my calipers on my 2011 plate RRS,

After doing some research on here I think I have found what I'm looking for (links below).

Can someone confirm I'm on the right track before I order, or if anyone has any better recommendations?

Very timely.
I did the same research and have just ordered the SGS jack you linked to.
I can't comment on the adaptor as I wanted to wait to measure the pad hole on the SGS before I purchased one (That supplier does a 60mm and a 74mm). Will do that at weekend.
You can also just use jack on the control arms and not via chassis which means you don't have to jack the car up as high = safer Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

The SGS jack looks the same as one I bought from there 3 years ago and it has been fine.

Not so keen on the jack adaptor you linked to. The adaptor which you'll find mentioned on the forum (with a drawing) has a lug top and bottom so fits in the jack with the 'cup' removed and also locates in the chassis. Helps to stop the jack slipping off.

The eBay version looks to only have the top lug and is recommended to be used with the jack cup in place; that doesn't sound as secure. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Good spot! I hadn't noticed that!

Any idea where I can get an adaptor that has a lug at the top and bottom?

I have purchased the SGS 3 Ton Workshop Jack, and it is very well built, "but" is very heavy and not easily manageable. As said the rubber cover and the lifting top are no use as supplied to lift the cars at jacking points. There was a member on here before who had the adaptors made, whether they are still available I don't know. I purchased from a member on here earlier in year, so was lucky.
This one on EBay may help, it has the a lug top and bottom.

A 3 tonne jack is always going to be heavy. I have the Halfords version of the SGS one ( they look identical in every respect other than stickers) and it is heavy etc but it lifts the RRS nicely. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Going to order this Jack, but want some axle stands too, obviously they need to be 3 tonne of above, but do they need to be a certain height?
