Mobile Day

OK So we get one APP that's 2 years late, doesn't deliver, and Mobile Day which was also about 18 Months late, has now disappeared due to Land Rovers inability to manage a software release programme !

Why do we buy these cars ??

Oh yes because the drive is truly amazing, and every time I get in it I smile ! If you watch James Corden in the Car Pool Karaoke clips on YOUTUBE, that's how it makes me feel !

Still come on LR ! Go the final 5 % !! PLEASE !

For me personally, the whole "apps" thing in RRs is "meh"................ MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

Justdrive

Justdrive is embarrassing. Doesn't do half the things it said, and the things it does do you need to press the screen half the time to initiate or confirm things. Its not even linked with the steering wheel buttons ? Is this a joke LR ???

Tried to use JustDrive. The car is telling me I need a software update and I need to visit a service centre before I can use the App. Laughable really. It's s good job I don't need to visit the Apple Store every time iOS updates!

To be fair, I wouldn't have expected InControl to be linked to anything other than the phone. It wasn't developed by JLR and I would rather have things like this 'separate' than inextricably linked...

JustDrive

Well, it was actually a nice surprise to see that it had crept into the app store, and is no longer "coming soon".
Also nice to see that is has introduced some functionality, like being able to play a track from spotify from voice, or tell the car to and address by voice etc.

However, the problem is really one of integration. As you need a mobile phone connected for it to work, you know have 3 devices in your car capable of doing your sat nav, (justdrive/google maps/landrover's built in) but the justdrive maps doesn't integrate into the drive controls and dashboard display which would have been a big win, plus the nav voice is from a 1980's zx spectrum!

Surely being able to select voice activation is best done from the command button on the steering wheel? It is where you need to go to ensure minimum distraction.

On my wife's BMW it is a simple implementation. A short press on that button directs commands to the cars own speech recognisition system, a long press invokes siri on whichever bluetooth phone you have activated, not surprisingly siri is much better at recognising commands and instructions, accessing calander etc, but at least you have the option.

Does anyone know if the justdrive nav app is powered by google? Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

I doubt it's Google powered - when set up the rumours were that Andy Rubin, founder of Android, was the leave Google to be involved in CloudCar, the creator of JustDrive. He ended up instead launching Playground Global.

I personally wouldn't waste your time. More like a poorly designed Windows program. If you are going to get an App or Program designed outside, at least ensure the writers know what they are doing and have seen the bloody car, they couldn't have, with this load of rubbish as the result. Blame CloudCar not JLR.

Wow, i can't believe that CloudCar is even a thing, I was being kind when I thought the app was an inhouse effort, but it is poor for a third party app from a company specialising in car software development. Range Rover Sport SVR - Santorini Black

Yes, you need InControl Apps as it was called then. Phone connects to the car through the InControl port in the centre box.
