I would also suggest that you get the rear callipers looked at as they can seize/part seize, which causes excessive and/or uneven wear. I've had both mine replaced in the last 2 years, one after chewing through a new disc

Sounds a horrible experience and no doubt tainting your range rover experience but look on the bright side alot of this stuff can be sorted easily and cost effectively and yput get great support and info on the forums... being an ex mercedes owner I can say more so with the land rovers than the mercs...
