I thought the system just recognised them without programing, fit wheel/ tyre wait and leave car stationary for at least 15 minutes then drive a for at least 5-10 minutes above 16mph and they should register.

The Government think a lot of things are of value, but usually ends up joe public paying , not saying it's a bad thing but is that not something else Europe forced on manufactures ?.

If TPMS actually monitored the individual pressure in each wheel I'd see the value there.

TPMS is a by-product, if you like, of ABS and stability control.

I sure the latest system does monitor the individual pressures in each tyre/wheel, the RRS 1 system just told you the pressure had dropped to around 25psi because out of curiosity I let a couple of tyres down to see at what point the light came on. as I said as a £400.00 option it was as much use as a chocolate teapot.
