Australia 2010 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Good Experience of LR Quality

Over my 20 years of LR ownership I have experienced:
- Engine replaced within 12 months of purchase.
- Landrover buying back a vehicle because they couldn't fix it (that was LR not the dealer).
- Not being able to drive a new vehicle over 80km/h for 3 years from new because of severe drive train vibration/resonance.
- Replacing an ABS unit 1 month out of warranty (3 years) - that was an ouch $8,000.
- Returning a vehicle to the dealer 2 days after purchase because it was defective.

But the above does not rate compared to over 5 years of battling to get my RRS driving like it should.

So I think I am well qualified to respond to forum posts on the L494 in terms of seeing how it fits within the history of LR quality.

Actually- if you don't have one, you're not qualified to comment on them at all, at least not from an owners perspective.

Let me ask for clarification before we go further - do you have an L320 or an L494? MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

As an Ozzie one thing I would like to see legislated is a Lemon law. Although we have pretty good consumer laws it still costs a lot to proceed. Lemon Law would make it easier. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I agree there Bails.. It is an expensive and protracted ordeal if you have a genuine beef.

I keep my Honda because it is a mission critical vehicle - it never lets me down, it never goes wrong, maintenance costs are negligable. I can rely upon it to serve me when the Landrover goes wrong.

We keep a Chrysler 300C I bought when they first came out for the same reason.

I used to have an S Class Merc, and eventually I had to buy an old Volvo 7 or 9 something estate as a basher that worked as the Merc spent so much time in the garage. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available

I'm on my third Land Rover now and haven't had any issues, other than a break down in the very first week of ownership 5 years ago! Started with a 61 plate RRS, then had a 2015 FF before switching back to the RRS in SVR guise.

When I bought the SVR I took a hard look at the competition as the price was by far the most I had ever spent on a car, but there was nothing from any other manufacturer that interested me. The Mercedes GL looked terrible, the X5 a dull rep mobile on stilts and the Audi....well I'd just never buy an Audi!

In the off-road SUV class it has no peers. The only other cars I'd consider would be the Porsche Cayenne, but I can't get over the looks, or the Panamera, which is getting better with each revision.

But at the moment the RRS is the most capeable all round car I've ever owned, and I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
