Tailgate opening issue

The tailgate button on my RRS won't work. I can open the tailgate with the LR button on the key fob. Is the problem that because the previous owner programmed the LR key button to do it, it disables the button on the tailgate or is the tailgate button likely to be faulty? For clarity, by tailgate I mean the top half of the rear door, not the whole thing 😊 Robin

The switch can corrode. It's a cheap and DIY-easy fix however. Many of us have had this problem... Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

It should work still.

Could be the switch. A focus one is less than £10 on eBay.

Or could be a broken wire under the boot spoiler.
