Cigarette Lighter Centre Console +Ve Feed

Hi guys

Installing a new HU to my 2007 HSE and part of that install is to run a wire to a +ve feed, preferably cigarette lighter or fuse board.

Without having to take all the complete console around the gear stick to pieces, there happens to be a handy little inspection hole at the bottom of the cup-holder. Opening that up shows the wires that run from the cigarette lighter to the wiring loom. I've confirmed this by the old pull test as I can just get my hand down to touch the bottom of the socket and tug on the wire tugs the wire in the inspection hole.

I have black, red/black and green/white. G/w is thicker than the r/bl, so I'm guessing that that is the +ve to the lighter socket?

If someone could confirm, then I can get a scotch block onto it relatively easily and without having to take the console to pieces!

TIA

(yes I know scotch blocks are the spawn of the devil Twisted Evil & my responsibility)

Thin red is probably illumination.

Green is normally ignition.

Well done. That's a nice easy way to get to the wires.

Hmm

Looked at the rear 12v and its got 2 thin wires only, so now wondering if g/w is the light as its thicker and the other 2 are the same.

Doh!

Hi Andy

It was g/white and is now a good ignition feed for the new HU. It was a bit fiddly to do but better than taking centre console to bits.
