Corroded front to rear brake pipes

Had the RRS in for its 9 year service, front to rear pipes are badly corroded according to health check, quote of 350 plus vat but maybe more if they can't "unscrew" the joints due to corrosion.
Can any one recommend an Indy in West Yorkshire or mobile mechanic who cold do this for a more reasonable price, seems expensive for a few meters of pipe work. The garage state they would fail he MOT if it was due so need to look at having them done. Prefer landrover specialist but I guess the brake lines are same on most cars. Nanocom Evo

That's expensive for 2 brake pipes,we charge £40 per pipe.its only £10 for a roll of copper pipe & you would probably be able to do full car with one roll.

Have you done a RRS before ?

I think access is a pain at the rear.

You could always clean them off and coat with oil etc.

Don't really want to hide the problem, if the pipes fail its a lot of car to stop but feel sure I can have them repaired for a reasonable price. Nanocom Evo

It's Not hiding the problem.
It's preventing it rusting or slowing it down.

Don't replace using copper pipes is the answer. Wink
Copper is cheaper but I use Kunifer its about twice the price, but still not the price you have been quoted, I paid £270 on my last car. John

Re Brake Pipes

Hi Jaggs

I had mine replaced a couple of years ago as it actually failed as they go up and over the Chassis at the back. I was towing an Ifor Williams trailer with a Frontera on it at the time,Luckily only a pinhole in the pipe and low fluid light came on.

I put it in to get done think I was around £220 ,I was told they are common for this. Access is a pita as heatshield's etc need to be removed and think it helps greatly to have Ramp access below the car.

Hope this helps.
Jock Thumbs Up
