Can anyone help me identify this component at the rear of my 2009 TDV8? It hangs down from the chassis rails on either side of the car and swings fore and aft and seems fairly loose. I am trying to hunt down the source of heavy thumps over even the slightest of road imperfections.

its a kind of balance weight.

Chassis harmonics weight spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8

Harmonic mass damper.

The thump will be almost certainly either anti roll bar bushes or front lower arms bushes. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
