Aftermarket rear upgrade led lights

Hi Folks just got myself some led rear lights, so just a quick question, i fitted them and everything works as it should individually or even alltogether EXCEPT when you put the reverisng lights on and then everything to the rear goes off except for the 3rd brakelight so obviously at night thats a problem no indicators, brake lights ot taoli lights with reverse selected, emailed the seller who is aware that they do this and has never had a car fail an MOT due to this , surely its an MOT fail as the wording states that " a fail will occur if the use of a light affects the use of another lamp" anybody else had this issue with aftermarket lights??? Sad

I assume the logic to the other lights being out could be better illumination ? How ever it would be good to ask why they have decided to have the other lights out in reverse. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

It wouldn't fail an MOT because reverse lights arn't part of the test..
What you are quoting about one light affecting another refers to indicators, hazards, side and brake.. 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current
2009 TDCi 90 current
2018 Discovery 5 HSE lux current
1994 Dakar current

Thanks for the quick responce, my MOT guy says that aswell ,reversing lights are not part of the MOT, but when activated they do affect the brake/rear/indicators etc etc so as none of them work it would be a fail ???.

The lights themselves are fittted with resistors so no speeded up dash lights or anything everything else works fine together it is only when reverse selected that is the problem anyone else had this and did anyone else sort it and how ?

Could you not remove the reverse light power from the plug that goes to the lights?
This may well cure your problem ? Currently MY16 Disco 4 Mr. Green

Don't really want to go messing with the wiring if they are going back if you know what i mean

Think that that is the best option, if they don't fail an MOT ?? then surely they must fail under construction and use ? Thing is though you would never notice if you tested them individually it was only when i was reversing on a car park at night in front of a shop window that i noticed, i wonder how many are running around like this Shocked

The lights I got for mine didn't have reverse lights in them, which I don't mind as the IR on the reversing camera is better when its dark spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8

I bought aftermarket LED rear clusters and they work perfectly, I had to fit my own reverse and fog bulbs but everything else is LED.

If they basically trip when you put it in reverse and the seller is already aware of the issue I would report him to trading standards as not only are the lights not fit for purpose they're dangerous. I'm amazed that you didn't instantly demand either a replacement set or your money back.

Buy cheap and buy twice..
