Installing Genuine RR Sat Nav + Phone?

Hi everyone,

I've read quite a few threads on people enquiring about upgrading their stereos to an aftermarket type, but I can't find anything about upgrading the existing stereo to include genuine Range Rover GPS etc....

I've got a Range Rover Sport MY2006 4.4L L320 and installed is the 6CD-565 stereo. It plays 6 CDs and that's it. It has all the buttons to use the phone but there is no phone functionality from them. I even had to put my own auxiliary jack in to use the AUX i/p to play music off my iPod/iPhone. If anyone can help me with the following:-
Confirm part numbers to install the Genuine RR Sat Nav system (do I need just touchscreen, disc player, disc, GPS antenna?)
Will my current 6CD-565 allow the bluetooth connectivity for my phone? Confirm part numbers for remote on steering wheel?

Thanks for any help. Like I said I have tried to find this information elsewhere but keep coming to dead ends, not even the Navigation & Telephone Systems manual tells you anything (had previous vehicles who's manuals state "not available on xxx-xxx model). The car's 10 years old and don't mind spending a couple of grand getting it up to date to keep for another 10 years. Added a couple of photos to show visually what I'm talking about. Thanks.

Hi it can be done, but you will also need some more looms and fibre optic cables to connect to the MOST loop system. Have a read of this post from the D3 forum.

Also you could fit the D4 screen as well but there are still glitches with the Bt disconnecting. The phone part is simple to fit and will need enabling in the CCF file as will some of the Nav options.

Flack Thumbs Up

I thought the answer to the phone was, don't bother! Just fit an aftermarket bluetooth system

Hi Flack / Andy K,

Flack, the link you sent me is perfect. I think I'll follow it word for word, thanks. Think I made the mistake of searching exclusively for Range Rover Sports.

Andy, what's wrong with the factory bluetooth? And what are the aftermarket alternatives? I'm pretty tech savvy most the time but with vehicles it's a little alien to me.

Mines booked in for an I pad in place of my top screen next week, just
had a pioneer carplay fitted in place of the original stereo.. Thumbs Up

Hi Hoppy

I did look at third party stereos but I didn't want to lose the steering wheel buttons functionality.

Saying that I wasn't aware of how much the stereo manufacturers had got in bed with Apple and Android and checked out the Pioneer CarPlay you mentioned and they seem a good option to go with.

I live in Western Australia these days and getting hold of an old wiring loom for a RRS could be pretty challenging. So it's certainly something to consider. Cheers.
