United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV6 S Java Black
Hi all! .....oh & yep, Bio Diesel.

Well, i've dropped the Porsche and got myself a TDV6 S (2007). I must say, as basic as it is, it has surprised me. I should've done this a long time ago. It brings me to the Bio Diesel subject. I have read the posts on it and note that they were some while back. Does anyone have an up-to-date opinion on wether it is worth considering?

Thanks in advance

Tom Thumbs Up

Welcome to becoming a RRS owner Tom.
I would be careful as some of these bio diesel fuels can actually damage your engine according to Autocar Express.
The ratio of the amount of other additives being put into some diesel fuels are to high and this "extra" amount of additives or alternative/types, mixes etc have damaged certain vehicles, so I would never use them. But, I've not heard if the RRS is one of the cars not to use bio fuels in. John

I seem to remember the owner's handbook says "no" to bio diesel. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

IIRC the MAXIMUM amount of biodiesel that the 2.7 and 3.6 TDV8 can run on is 8% bio - which is what you can get out of a normal forecourt pump legally anyway. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

Personally I wouldn't tuch the stuff along with supermarket fuel others on here will disagree about the supermarket stuff but it's upto you. Poor quality fuel will wear the HPFP and injectors over time and can cost big money to put right all for saving a few pence at the pump, my view it's not worth it... 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

I can't explain why I "waste" money, according to the good lady at home, but by purchasing my fuel from Shell**and using the "Super" grade, I just feel the better fuel will help protect my cars engine as I drive, and test reviews do say it is better. Whether it's worth the extra few pence per litre is a personal preference, but I wouldn't buy fuel from supermarkets or the "unusual" named fuel companies.
Am I the only one?

(**= BP, Esso if no Shell station in area at time.) John
