The SGS 3 tonne trolley jack is the dogs for home use together with a couple of 3ton axles stands
For roadside changes I've got an old skool LR red bottle jack with the "horns". Works perfectly under the wishbones at bottom of strut and having a saddle is a hell of a lot safer than a normal flat topped bottle jack. Ditched the supplied scissor jack made of cheese and butter Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Totally agree with DrRob, I have the 3 Ton heavy duty Garage trolley jack model, shown in link at end of post, currently on offer and I also have 6 ton axle stands x4 from the same manufacturer. The Trolley Jack have a two year warranty, extra heavy, height raise over 20” they are very helpful on phone if you have any problems, next day delivery, free.
I think this is definitely the one to purchase, and will see you through any car ownership in the future.

That SGS one is the one I recently gave away when I bought a low access one for my ST......which I`ve never used
I don`t think I`ll be getting a jack anyway...my drive is too narrow and....I`d rather someone else get mukky for me nowadays Steve.

Fair point on the trolley jack but take a look at the roadside scissor jack in your boot - it's made of cheese and known to fail. You might want to consider getting a D2 bottle jack for emergency wheel swaps following a puncture http://www.dls-uk.co.uk/hydraulic-jack-and-handle-oe.html
