These wheels weigh a ton!

Picked up a nail in a front tyre, had to change to the spare at the weekend.

Only just managed to heave the (full size) spare out of it's lair, these wheels are b****y heavy!

Tyre place says it's repairable, glad about that as I hate scrapping a tyre with so few miles on it. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I know. I have the full size 21" spare and removed it to look for the spare wheel lift assist strap (which I then found wasn't there). On that note, do you have that strap? It should be supplied FoC depending on your spare wheel size. I got it from my dealer later. Supposed to make the job of lifting it out easier.

I used to be able to swap all four 275/40/20 summer and 255/50/19 winter wheels + tyres on the L320 myself relatively easily but L494 combo is something else. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Firenze Red

Size and the weight of the wheel makes it almost a sure way of getting a back pain. Like Fkarim I got the strap tool free of charge as a service action, dealer said its only valid for 21 wheels.

No lifting strap with mine, apparently my puny 20" wheels don't need one.

My back begs to differ and I haven't put the repaired wheel back yet! MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems.

I also changed my wheel on the week end. I wanted to fit the 20 inch blacks I had purchased but only one would fit #@@. I decided to put the spare on the front and boy is it heavy. I do have the strap , and I see no logic to it not being supplied to all wheels as the weight and outside diameter should be similar, smaller wheels run higher profile tires. Not supplying the lift strap is another sign of the petty cost saving Land Rover does for no good reason. As a first time new buyer of the brand I personally think Land Rover has a way to go if it wants to be considered for more than the oval badge.

Getting back to tyre changing , glad I did it , got to know some of the issues. I have some wheel chocks , fitted to my kit , these are not supplied , I did not use the jack , I assume this would be hard yakka .

The lift strap takes some getting right , it will not pull the wheel up but by rocking one side up and ajusting the strap it makes getting the wheel in and out tolerable . M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.

I changed mine twice a year (winter/summer) so I know how heavy they are Sad

I never got a puncture but if I did I think LRA would be getting a call Laughing

I now have a can of gunk and no winter tyres so my back is happy at the moment Wink Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Calling LRA assist in outback Australia could mean you are dead by the time they arrive ! For that matter the nearest LRA, NRMA , could be a long wait in very hot conditions just for a flat.

We are driving the world's best off road vehicle , LRA will not be able to get to us as they don't use the world's best off road vehicle's in Australia. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
