SatNav Screen power

Evening All,

Hope you had a good weekend Very Happy

Well I'm back to playing around with the car and for that reason am looking for a 'protected'switched power source. What I mean is one that is not affected by the engine cranking on start up.

I would seem the stereo and SatNav screen have such a source and I'd like to tap into it if possible.

Therefore can anyone confirm that the power supply from the stereo to the SatNav is 12VDC, or if not what it is and also where I can find the +ve and -ve.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Guy

Hi no feedback?

I've determined the power feed it 12V so that's a start... Bit of a blonde moment as it's stated on the label of the unit... Embarassed

Now I only need to know which cables are +ve and -ve in the grey connector of which the picture below shows the 'female' receiver.

Alternatively if somebody could point me in the direction of a RRS electrical manual I'll search myself.

Thanks

Cheers Andy Thumbs Up ,

Problem with the lighter is that it suffers a voltage (I think) or current drop when you crank the engine. this when using the Tasker App is recognised as losing power and triggers various events depending on what you've set up, hence using the touch screen feed which I think is protected for want of a better word.

Also I want to use the touch screen power as this is in principle a switched (through the stereo) permanent feed meaning I could use the tablet without the key in the ignition, just the stereo on which I'd need anyway.

Thanks again, the hunt continues Thumbs Up

Cheers

Andy,

in case of the stereo not. You can turn the stereo on by just pressing the left hand dial (volume control) this powers up the stereo and I think the touch screen also, no key required.

Cheers
