High revving sound

When pulling away for the first time in the morning sounds like the engine is revving higher than normal or the cooloing fans are spinning at full speed. This lasts for about 10 seconds then settles down to normal.

Anyone else noticed something similar ? MY10 TDV6 HSE, Alaska White, Ebony with Contrast, Park Heat, Paddle Shift, Privacy, Heated Steering Wheel, Extended & Premium Leather,

It's down to 'heat sink' in the radiator fan. The fan stays in the hot and working position when you turn off from the night before, takes a few seconds to realise that the engine is in fact cold.
Completely normal

Try turning the stereo up to full. Firstly you wont hear the noise and more importantly you wont hear the wife moaning. some of my Previous cars

The SC does a similar thing, sounds like its revving higher for the first few yards or minute, then settles down.

Someone told me it was a cooling fan for the diffs Confused

Not being a boffin (Cliff, take a bow) that doesn't really mean all that much to me.

I'm with Jay on this one....I love the sound!

On the roadtrip, in Northern Europe a few of the hotels had underground carparks and Mrs ST said it sounded like a F@*k'n big lion was legging it up the ramp towards her! Laughing Runner up - 2009 Best Avatar Award Sad

I used to have that on mine too... it gave it all quite a V8-ish roar actually as I pulled out of the driveway, only for it to stop 20 yds down the road. I often wondered why it made that noise... now I know! Very Happy

My first post - hello!

I don't have the sport, but a supercharged Vogue. Mine has made this 'fans on turbo mode' from time to time. Last week it did it - except it didn't turn off, stayed that way for forty miles.

Just managed to limp home as everything was clearly dying, the battery light lit and it died on the driveway. It's been towed away and I'm told about a week to fix - no diagnosis from the dealer yet.

So just a heads up (from a non technical owner) to be listen out for the fans stopping their turbo mode...

Neil
