Will these Wheels Withstand The Weight?

Hi Guys, searched the forum but cannot find a post with advice on replica wheels. No doubt it is here somewhere.

Looking on eBay cam across these wheels:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-Alloy-Wheels-...Sw5dNWppuR

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20X9-5-OVERFINCH...SwLVZVswuX

Quite like the look of both of them, but very doubtful if they are study enough. Cant really afford the cost of originals this soon after Christmas, I have convinced myself so far that it's not worth the risk. But thought I'd see if anyone has any experience of fitting "replica" wheels.

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

What is the load rating of the wheels??

If I remember correctly, I think RRS wheels need to have a rating of 920kg or higher (if it is not 920kg it is something close).

Thanks for the info Gary. There is no mention of the load rating, I have asked the seller/dealer to provide. They are very similar if not the same as the HAWKE - HALCYON wheels.

I's rather pay extra for piece of mind & safety. But if they are legit....

Thanks again

I believe the HAWKE - HALCYON wheels are rated at 955kg but the ones you listed are not the real thing so may have a much lower rating. A few people on this forum have got caught out with aftermarket rims supposedly for a RRS being rated as low as 750kg.

But then they may be OK - just check.

I'd never dream of fitting fake wheels to a 2.5 tonne car that my wife and kids are in. Just not worth the risk.

The best quality wheels I've ever had on my numerous RR Sports has been Overfinch, I've accidentally hit pot holes with 22" Tigers and having had them inspected by professionals, they was no damage.

overfinch alloys

I've got a set of these 22" overfinch alloys on mine the car went in for a new set of tyres and the fitter noticed two small hair line cracks, one in each rear wheel, So they had to go to a specialist welder. I pull a caravan so maybe that might have made a difference I don't no but I hope this helps.

Regardless on which 22's you fit,if you hit a pothole hard enough it will damage the wheel.the only way to make it better for not damaging them is get higher profile tyres such as 45's on 20's & 40's on 22's.

I personally would never fit replica wheels to a 2.5 tonnes performance vehicle like the RRS purely from a safety viewpoint - genuine product everytime in view of the amount of money spent testing by LR and the liability if they cut corners

Save a few quid and hope you don't damage your pride and joy or worse if substandard alloy fails just not worth it IMHO Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!
