Oman 2006 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Vesuvius Orange
vredestein ultrac vorti 275/40R22

Happy New Year to you ALL Very Happy Hope you had a great festive season!!

Well after getting the Sport serviced and pretty much every bush changed, plus the DSC pump and the front hub bearings I was told that 3 of the 4 Toyo Proxes tyres need replacing...

Not a happy chap as they're less than 3 years old and hardly warn... However, I've had issues with them being balanced properly and have always had a vibration through the steering wheel at around 60mph.

So I went on the search for 285/35R22 tyres and found none in Oman or the Middle East, or at least nothing decent. So I decided to go for 275/40R22s which is what the new FFRR sports. I then had a choice of Conti, Pirelli and Vredestein tyres in Oman Smile .

Ended going with Vredestein as they had a new Hunter Road Force balancer and good reviews for dry and hot performance. What a result Smile They balanced all 4 wheels to a tolerance of 5-6 units (can't remember the unit Confused ) even though 9.1 is classed as a pass. End result no more vibrations Very Happy

I'll give a report on the tyres after a few weeks but first impressions are good, even if a little biased because the vibration is gone... Wink

The car looks excellent Guy

Can I ask, did the steering and drive comfort change after changing from 20" to 22"?

Thanks for the comments guys Thumbs Up

MNK: Regards the steering and drive comfort. I didn't notice a difference in the comfort as the roads here are pretty good with a lack of potholes etc Wink On the steering front there may have been a bit more tram lining but really can't be sure as I only had the original 275/40R20 tyres on for 3 months before swapping to 285/50R20s....

Tyrefitter: Same thing here. One tyre was damaged by rocks off road (tear in sidewall) but the other two both had massive cracks on the sidewall. I didn't notice these as they were on the inner sidewall so not visible.

Cheers
