In Control.......... yes they email me periodically to ask why my car hasn't moved for weeks on end and when will it next be moved? Could I advise them as they need to do a diagnostic check that normally we don't know about because it is done when the car is in motion and needs the engine running. I then contact my brother and ask him to give the car a run but to let the InControl Centre know the day before. When LRA came to cart away my last Evoque which was one of the first cars with Incontrol my parents got a phone call to say I wasn't answering (I was in mid Atlantic Ocean) my phone and di they that my Evoque had been loaded onto a flatbed and was on the move............. No how would they know it was a flatbed but also why did the LRA tech not put the sysytem into recovery/service mode, they probably all know about InControl Secure by now but back when it was new they weren't aware, same with the dealership who got the car in to work on after another problem, they had a visit from the Police to answer a car out from the car that it was being tampered with but it wasn in the service bay and the tech hadn't inhibited the system for servicing/ repair work 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Big Brother is Watching - George Orwell would be proud of InControl although LR's roll out was a bit later than 1984.

Well RRS at the dealers, arrived on a recovery truck and as luck would have it - or not - it started and they drove it into the workshop. However it has thrown up a few fault codes which they are working through but unless they come up with a definative cause and fix it I am constantly going to worry it will let me down again.

Be interested in your feedback on the Mitsibushi after a few days to see if the RRS2 warrants the price difference. Current Merc GLE 3.5d 2016 model, 2011 RRS HSE standard

We had a brand new shogun in 2005 as the land rover dealer insulted us with a trade in price for our Range Rover. On paper the shogun is great it had all the extras we wanted but in real life it was horrible, it just won't give you the feel a Range Rover does . It might be more reliable but none of us have had to push our cars to the garage it's just an inconvenience to have your pride and joy not work fully.

Shogun is good old fashioned Japanese industrial engineering. I regularly drive one in the Kimberly region of Western Australia with 70% of my driving on heavily corrugated, sometimes wet, deep sand dirt roads.

RRS/D3 and FFRR's suspension compressor is a well known weak link for corrugated outback roads, they overheat and give up so no suspension! Sometimes simple coil suspension is better! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

And sometimes springs break... Every system has its weak points; most of the time, the air suspension on the 'big' LRs is better than springs on a Defender. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

No - they don't. You might heat up the shockies due to the speeds you can comfortably travel on corrugated tracks, but we've never had a compressor fail in those conditions. I agree with Gordon.. The compressor is not affected by corrugations. The one on my D3 failed a few months after crossing the Simpson Desert with its 1000+ dunes due to the silly speed limit at offroad height. I have now fitted Llams on my D4 and don't have that problem anymore. Crossed Simpson again without having to raise and lower the suspension all the time..
