Best wax for black?

Hi all

What type of wax would you suggest for a Santorini Black car? I have a couple of very small stone chip on my bonnet, which are too small to be painted, so I was going to see if they could be sorted using a good quality wax or seal for black cars.

Jim

Wax is made for clear coat mate it makes very little differnce what colour car you have in my opinion. As fax as wax is concerned i use collinite 476s very durable easy on and off wax. Sealant wise ive used jetseal 109, kp1000p, and fusso to great success also. You can if you want apply sealant pre wax for extra protection but in my experience the "shine" is 90% in the prep

'Poor boys Black Hole' for trying to cover little marks and swirls.
But collinite 476 is awesome as a protective coat after poor boys. Thumbs Up Bodsys Brake Bible

OK, I use 476 at present and think that it gives a fantastic finish.

Been a fan of Finishkare FK1000P for a long time, but have just grabbed a tub of Dodo Juice Purple Haze to try when I finally get to sorting mine out.

Wax won't repair anything.. but you can repair tiny chips with some touch up paint and a pin,. then polish it out.

FK1000P results on dark colours:

Although as mentioned previously, to obtain the depth of shine, you need to make sure the paint is in decent condition without scratches, swirls and holograms.

Cheers..

Ian

Really good wax and so easily over looked due to its age and 1980's tin design Laughing but defiantly worth every penny. The only thing i will say about fusso and fk1000p is that i have been able to apply a successful layer in the rain with no adverse effects of both independently , they also lasted 3 months from application. This is a great advantage for winter time for me which is not possible with Collinite.

Indeed... and the fact it's so cheap! The other bonus is it goes such a long way being a very hard wax (I still have half a tin and bought it a couple of years ago for a whopping £17).

Can't say I've tried applying it in the rain! but I haven't had any problems in areas where water has managed to remain and then run / drip just as I'm about to add it to a panel (normally from under the mirror or rear number plate).

I used to love Clearkote Red Moose glaze too for dark cars.. would really make the colour "pop". Not tried the new formula (beige looking now instead of red) and seems getting hold of it over here isn't the easiest thing either.

And to add for the OP.. to a degree, almost any wax will look good, provided the prep work is done right beforehand.. a lot of the time waxes are often chosen for personal preference for ease of application, and / or for their longevity rather than their "looks".

Cheers..

Ian

Another vote for poor boys black hole. Very easy to put on and take off in all conditions and smells great. Then the wax of your choice something like dodo juice purple haze.

Got my vote as well Thumbs Up
I used both of these as well and will be sticking with them for the foreseeable future. I'd highly recommend both Thumbs Up
