Screeching/ metallic noise fromm front left wheel

Hi All,

Today on the way to work all of a sudden a horrible screeching, metallic type noise is coming from the front wheel when the car is in motion.

I am going to take it to a local garage tomorrow as Pentland cant see mu until next Friday!!!

Is there anything I can do now, quickly and easily which will help me locate the noise. Could it be some stone stuck some where. Apart from taking a wheel off, I know nothing about brakes but i am quite technical. Give me an exploded diagram and some instructions and I am away!

So, what are the common faults?

I think it's usually a stone caught between the brake thingy and the flange grommet.

We'll, a happy ending.

First off called land rover but they couldn't see me until the 18th.

Got home and called land rover assist. Within 40 mins a guy in an AA van was here.

Walked up to the wheel, put his hand in and pushed the metal tin guard type cover behind the brake disc, and right away in front of my eyes a stone fell out. Took it for a test drive and all is well and good.

Can't fault the service at all, and such a simple fix. He spent more time doing paperwork !
