Can't decide between the following 275/40/20 tyres...

Hi all

I have been searching for a new set of tyres for my RRS Supercharged (2007), and I've whittled it down to the following:-

I've listed the fuel economy, wet grip, and noise levels rating, plus the best price i've found them for (fitted local to me)

Uniroyal Rainsport 3 - C/A/73 - 106.99
Toyo Proxes T1 Sport - C/B/72 - 115.29
Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico - C/B/72 - 130.79

I like the idea of the A rated wet grip on the Uniroyals, plus the price. The Asimemetrico I've read are what the RRS came from the factory with, and they are reasonably priced for Pirellis. I do low mileage and so the mileage i'll get from a set doesn't bother me too much.

Any comments would be much appreciated Very Happy

Be careful comparing tyre ratings between manufacturers. They test them themselves and the ratings are in comparison with some nominal tyre of their own. There is no "European standard tyre" which all manufacturers compare to. It's possible that an A rating for wet grip by one manufacturer is no better than a B from another. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Good advice re the ratings RRSTDV8. I'll note that in future!

I've gone with the Pirellis, and they're on their way to my local garage from tyreleader.

Hope you have better luck with tyreleader than I did, ordered 4 tyres on 19th Oct, two arrived on 2nd Nov, other two have 'gone missing' via the courier, tyreleader refusing replacement or refund until investigation with courier complete, could take 4 weeks from now! raised a claim via PayPal and ordered the missing 2 from Oponeo... ____________________

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with Tyreleader Kenny, I hope it get's sorted!

I ordered mine the middle of last week, and they had arrived and were fitted by the Saturday. Really impressed.

The Pirellis seem great so far. Steering is far lighter, and they seem to soak up the bumps a lot better. My initial impression could just be because they are new tyres but, they definitely seem better.

Thanks for your help guys.
