United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black
TDV8 Health Check Results

Just had my 2008 TDV8 in at my local Indy for a health check. The list below is what they found with quotes to repair. Just wondered if anyone can tell me if these prices are what I should expect to pay? And what order if any I should get the work done?

Front N/S lower arm excessive play £220 x 2
Front O/S lower arm slight play £220 x 2
Rear upper arm slight play £210 x 2
Rear D rubbers have side to side movement £96 for both
O/S rear tie bar minimal play £65 x 1
4 wheel alignment £80

Total labour £1541 + vat

Passed MOT with no advisories 3 weeks ago have a warranty but none of the above are covered!

Thanks for your help.

You can easily reduce that quote by half Thumbs Up

Edit: Why are they charging you £220 x2 per arm? Confused

Sounds good! They said its recommended that both sides are done at the same time? To be honest they didn't push me into doing anything, just produced the report following the checks. They said nothing was too urgent but to keep an eye on tyre wear if I don't have anything done.

Yes Warranty Direct Thumbs Up
I had to specify suspension and associated part at the outset and quote was adjusted accordingly. Was £812, but got a fair chunk of that back with this claim. Smile ON THE WAY: BMW F21 M140i

Bear in mind that the fact suspension bushes are wear and tear items can only mean that the probability of one's warranty being cost effective in the longer term is reduced further. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Yes, that's what I mean though. If you pay for wear and tear, the cost of cover will be such that you will almost certainly pay for it anyway. Paying out is a certainty, so there's no real probability for them to balance, and very, very few people would come out ahead. I guess it's a bit like a loan though, you pay extra but it may help with cashflow. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

I think it comes down to what makes you feel good. For some these warranties are the comfort blanket people want when they are taking the kind of risks all of us take when we own the RRS. For others (me included) I'm happy with the money in the bank and the risk of big bills. That could bite me in the a**e but it's my choice. I got a warranty with my TDV8 but based on my experience so far I won't be renewing it, they will wriggle out of everything they can. Let's face it they are in business, if the income from that business is less than the costs they wouldn't be in business, fact. It's a very personal choice.
