Surely it's under warranty, given your car is less than 12 months old? |

Indeed it is but the warranty covers only defective manufacture, not poor design and unfitness for purpose... Mark

Sorry £66 or 1p is insult to injury within warranty period for something unfit for purpose

Yes, you are probably right, the dealer parts guy admitted they are not great but £66 is way below my get-in-a-strop threshold. The message though is clear. If I have a puncture away from base, I'll call out the RAC. Mark

Merc Sprinter bottle jacks have been the favoured replacement for the scissor jack ref Discos and RRS1s. Usually plenty floating around on e bay. I bought an unused one 3 yrs ago for £27.99 delivered. |

I've used mine to remove all 4 to apply wheel protection and it was ok, noticed that it almost lift the whole side of the car by the time you clear one wheel off the ground. |

Andrew, yes, I did put the car in off-road height to minimise the distance the jack had to lift the car. I think the foot of the jack moved while I was raising it leading to the jack supporting the car at an angle.

One thing I have learned about LR jacks since the first one I had in 2003 is that they work much better and don't slip if you have a small 10"x10"x 8mm thick ply as a foot to place the jack on. The weight of the car sinks into the ply as the jack lifts it. My Defenders Farm Jack came with a plastic/silicone foot moulding that does the same thing. I've never had a jack slip out from under an RRS or FFRR since keeping the small piece of ply in the spare wheel well with the spare wheel. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Good advice Tim, sounds like that would have prevented my problem. Mark
