Wheel bearing x3 all on same hub?!?!

Right story goes.....

90,000 2007 RRS 2.7. Passenger side wheel bearing goes makes the normal horrid noise a bearing does so I do no more order 2 cheapish wheel bearings from eBay. I replaced the one that had gone drove it down the road problem solved. Clearly not. Get it back in to my mates garage check for a knocking noise turns out I have play from wheel bearing again right ok must of made a mistake I'll chuck the other one on then all should be good. Week later knocking again?! Surely not. Oh yes it has it's done it again. Right cheap bearings clearly a big mistake. Ring euro car parts new bearing. Wow knocking gone nice and smooth again. For the next 50 miles. It's now knocking and play again I just don't get it. Anyone had this problem?

I keep reading about the other problems they suffer with now I've got a slight knocking from my passenger side when braking can anyone tell me if it's the back bush on the lower arm that is common to go? I've also got a knocking from the rear when you shake the steering wheel lighty from the back. I'm just about done with this car I just want it sorted but refuse to pay labour charges I have access to everything to do it myself.

I'm going to ring LR tomorrow and get a genuine bearing make sure it's torqued to 230nm as I believe this is the correct setting?

You say that you don't want to pay labour cost because you can do it yourself,,,to be honest if you payed the labour cost & had a Indi garage fit bearing & it went again then the garage would be responsible for refitting new bearing. Also with doing it yourself your obviously doing something wrong or missing something out.

I get wanting value for money, but it amazes me that when you look at the many knock off components on EBay - people are happy for critical components to be placed on vehicles and then wonder why they don't perform as OEM components would.

Absolutely some great deals but people need to understand value and cost are completely different.

+1 for timken or skf bearings ... These cars are heavy - not a good idea to go with cheap chinese steel up there Smile
