Do you not have to engage ATPC when you want it rather than it being automatically engaged? I think having been brought up without these clever and very useful systems but also (even though I like to use the technology) I do sometimes like to just put the car into low ratio and drive it the same way as my Defender that doesn't have any electronics. What I am trying to get across is if you have ATPC then is it an "all or nothing" system ie it is on or off and you cannot tailor it to suit your driving? There was always the option to phase in or out the HDC using the cruise control buttons. If you have used it how do you like it, I haven't driven a car with the ATPC system yet, also does it still allow the Auto TR to select and deselect the HDC? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I used this device on my recent off road day.nthe instructor used it whilst going over rough terrain. I preferred it when I had control over the speed and braking if I'm honest although it did work well. 2008 Factory HST- Sold

You have kind of highlighted the key difference yourself.

If you're in ATPC already then just leave it and do the descent using its HDC function. If you're not in any mode then pressing the HDC button would seem to be the way to go. If the descent is one that you feel would benefit from assistance then selecting low range would be a sensible step too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
