Assuming you are connecting the iPhone via its 30 pin connector then you are getting a proper lineout signal. Android devices don't have a lineout and can only be connected via the headphone socket which is a lower quality signal. Hence the difference in volume and quality.

Even then Bluetooth works in a similar fashion to the headphone socket, and the volume on the device needs to be high. |
