Two different rear red calliper finishes

Hi

Just had my rear callipers changed under warranty as they were not a good colour match for the front Brembos. The dealer has had a battle trying to get a colour match but there is allegedly two finishes in circulation - powder coated and painted. The powder coated ones are a good match and are 'smooth' vs a darker rough finish on the painted ones.

Probably means they're going to peel quicker....but they look better!

Carn't believe it sounds almost a given that the callipers are going to start peeling on an £80'000+ vehicle, what do they paint the f***ers with, my late grandmothers bloody water paint?!

Found out a bit more today.

There are two finishes. Painted and powder coated. Painted have been the ones with the issues and are generally darker red with a rougher finish.

New style powder coated are starting to come into circulation. These prevent the peeling issue allegedly and colour and finish match the front. However each calliper comes in 4 parts and currently a mix of powder coated and painted finish are turning up for the same brake!

Here is a pic of my new powder coated ones:

I will hold fire on getting mine changed for a few months in the hope that the all powder coated versions are available. Powder coating would generally be more robust than paint 'IF' it is applied correctly but this is LR we are talking about. 2018 MY19 HSE Dynamic, Santorini, Ebony/Ivory, Sliding pano, Adaptive cruise, Black wheels.
