RRSPORT BEHAVIOUR ON THE SNOW

Good morning,
i have a RR sport 2008 with 48.000 km it is new, i bought it last march, i come form a BMW 530D, and previously i had a BMW X6 and a VW Touarge 2011, i decidet ot move to the RR SPORT because it was a very good offer and the car had only 23000 km,
I loved this car when was launched and i still love this car.
My question is how this car handles on the SNOW, the BMW 530 D with Pirelli sottozero III in very low snow it is not able to go on, the TOuareg was very good in the snow also with the all season tires only on the downhill it had some problems in case you poush the brakes too high or you are driving so fast.
What do you think of his performance on the snow? is the new model better?
Later we will discuss of her off road ablity in comparison to the other SUV and other Cross Country.
I am asking this since i go to the mountains in teh winter, now i have equipped the car with the Pirellli Scorpion.

Fighter, it all comes down to the tyres fitted.

A Ford Fiesta fitted with winter tyres will handle better and outperform a RRS, in the snow, fitted with summer tyres.

Before I came back to the LR brand I ran a Volvo XC90 (8 years of trouble free motoring.....) and would swap to dedicated winter tyres between October to March. The difference in handling, stopping, hill climbing/descent and the general feeling of security was incomparable to when I would drive on the same tyres all year round.

I've seen a test between 4x4 on summer and 2wd on winter and sure I posted it on here but can't find it Embarassed

Jim is correct according to the test I saw - weight is a big factor as demonstrated below

At the end of the day though I rather be in a 4x4 with all season or winter tyres than a fiesta on winter tyres Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

All depends on the situation. In a controlled area (like a snow slope), 4WD is of less benefit alone, but in the real world, throw in a bit of mud, variable snow coverage or even worse, uneven ground, and the 4WD will start to take effect more, being able to take greater advantage of the grip available. The RRS's also a long way from the Ford Kuga! Thumbs Up

Slippery conditions are always going to be the hardest to tackle for a large, heavy 4X4, hence the FL1 is famed for it's snow ability. Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Back in winter 2010 I had a MY10 RRS on summer tyres and swmbo had a 07 FL1 on all season - we went everywhere in hers while the RRS sat in garage Embarassed

The FL1 took everything thrown at it in its stride while the RRS pranced around like a fairy Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
