Battery vent tube

Hi
RRSport 2005 HSE 2.7TDV6

I have just fitted a new Exide battery which i bought from Tanya Batteries ( Great service, with excellent delivery updates).

I seem to only have a vent tube at the forward end of the battery compartment? Is this correct or should there be a rear tube?

There is only a vent tube in front.
