Rear camera.....

This rear camera has appeared on ebay, said to be a genuine land rover part for a range rover sport, and implies if fits in the rear spoiler.

If true, I'd assume the wiring harness is there for it to connect to. Anyone know if it works ? Does it just plug in and switch the screen when reverse is selected ?

Sounds to good to be true to me, but I'll probably bid anyway !!!

There is a thread on Disco3 at the moment where 2 people have fitted cameras to the existing screen with no problems.
Neither of them were LR ones though.

Just spoke to the parts dept at my dealer, and they dont list a camera for the RRS, but they do list one for th FFRR. I reckon its one of these, so would suspect there is no easy mounting for it, and no wiring there for it either.

I'll have a look at the Disco3 site, and see what they're up to - thanks Cliff.

I've sent the seller a message asking what the part number is as I suspect this is actually a Range Rover part and not a Sport part. The FFRR has a standard reversing camera - but, to my knowledge, none exists for the RRS.

If you looked at his Range Rover Sport spoiler listing, he had bought the part for fitting to his P38 Range Rover. 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE, Java/Ebony/Cherry, Privacy, Sunroof, PTI, Premium Sound, SatNav, Cold Climate, Tow kit, CarStyle coded grill and vents, Tasmods, Stormers, JE Exhaust, Autobiography badge

Definately a FFRR camera. Rear camera's are not planned to be introduced on RRS for a couple of years yet.

Reading his auction for the rear spoiler I think he is a bit of a tinker man. There is no way the RRS spoiler would fit a P38a Range Rover with only a "little" modification. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Hello, mates!

I find it rather interesting that Land Rover wants to wait a few YEARS for a backup camera when just about every other manufacturer of luxury sport SUVs has it as a readily available option! (example: Lexus, Escalades, BMW, Hummer) Confused -------------

Lexus "Luxury". Laughing Sorry, but I used to work at Toyota and the Lexus, up until a couple of years ago was sold in most countries as a Toyota but they invented the "badge" due to America and Europes thirst for "premium" badges. They come out of the same factories but at the port, the ones going to USA and Europe had the Lexus badge stuck on them. Now they stick the Lexus badge on at the factory. Very clever marketing and Toyota do not mind admitting so. They even sell them in Japan now as the Japanese wanted the Lexus badge too.

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 SE Arctic Frost

Have you ever driven a vehicle with one of these rear view cameras fitted?

What a pain in the aris !

First thing I do when I engage reverse is switch the bloody thing off and look over my shoulder. The way I did when I passed my test many years ago.

The trouble with the average FFRR driver is that he is too old and fat to turn his neck, hence the rear view camera. We RRSport owners on the otherhand are a lot younger, fitter and more mobile. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.
