Cool, so maybe possible if you phone up and do it (rather than online?)

I guess the hold up is, if the car isnt in your name and address, if you change the reg, it goes to the current registered owner. BUT if you sell a car you can disclose it instantly online and who too. The question is if the seller did this online, then in theroey its instantly to you so the reg would change to you instantly, BUT this is down to did they do it, has it changed etc. |

I read that too but was concerened that if you have "Hand filled out" the V5C/2 then that in the DVLA eyes still under the original owners name as your holding the V5C/2. If you then change the reg online, it goes to them. I attemepeted online and at no point did it ask who the car V5 should go to so I bottled it as no doubt you will loose the logbook and your reg at the same time if you havent got the V5 in your name |

Interesting- as you can do the V5 change online (and apparently its pretty quick to come through) I wonder if its worth waiting?

I guess it depends if the V5 has already been sent off? If they have it and then you change the V5 online, could mess up? |

I've been through all this just a couple of weeks ago. The DVLA seem to give out conflicting advice, but the woman I spoke to on the phone seemed very knowledgeable and insisted that I could not put the new plates on the new car until the revised V5C arrived. I was told to send that off with the retention certificate to the PO box on the back of the retention certificate.

My thoughts too but I know once you have the revised V5, you can do the plate transfer online and do the plates straight away. When you do the plate transfer, my V5 came within 3 days!!!! The delay seems to be changing the owner from one to another by posting the V5 etc. |

Could it be that the delay is due to the need to check / change the MOT and Insurance databases as well so DVLA has to see the changes reflected in the MOT and Insurance Co registers before they can issue the correct paperwork? Slow working in the other two organisations will hold up the transfer. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
