New Consumer Protection Laws coming into force on 1st Oct

I have just listened to a very interesting item on You and Yours on R4 regarding new consumer laws coming into force tomorrow that have very big implications for car buyers and their rights. If I have understood it correctly, now you can demand a full refund of monies paid or a replacement vehicle within 30 days of purchase regardless of the fault, if outwith the 30 days then the dealer gets 1 (one) attempt to fix it within the next 6 months or you can demand your money back. Land Rover dealers and Land Rover is going to have to up their act on quality control and checking out cars before delivery I fear............. you can listen to it again on the Radio iPlayer and point out that I have misundetstood the new regs! The idea is to get around the continual returning to a dealership that some car buyers have been having with less than perfect new or used cars.

You should be able to find the programme here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06d8h10 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Have not listened to it yet, but if it's as you understood it then it is a very welcome change to protect consumers who are handing over vast sums of hard earned money, only to be having considerable problems so soon into ownership. On you link it starts from 26 mins if anyone wants to hear it Smile

If the car is faulty upto 30 days after you get it you can ask for your money back.
If its over 30 days and less than 6 months they get one chance to repair the car if you are still then not happy you can ask for a refund but it might be a partial refund due to use of the car.

I wonder if this new law also applies in the Undemocratic State Of Sturgeon aka Scotland now we have a government here that is determined to kill off anything that comes out of Westminster unless they get millions of pounds for taking it? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
