Which winter tyres?

Hello,

I've been looking at winter tyres on tyreleader and trying to work out which ones to choose from Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme S, Nokian WR SUV3 or going for a 2011MY Michelin Alpin or Pirelli W270 Sottozero on 20" alloys (275/40/20) and wondered if anyone had any experience or views on which offers the best performance

Given that we are likely to get more rain than snow in the UK i'm not sure that the Vredestein will be as good in the rain as some of the others.

The Michelin's and Pirelli's do seem reasonable value for money (each tyre less than £140) but i'm not sure if there's a compromise going for a slightly older model tyre.

Any feedback/advice welcome

Thanks!

I ran the same Vredestein Wintrac Xtremes on my L322 FFRR for the winter before last and on my current L494 RRS last winter and they were fine in the wet. Unfortunately, I didn't see much snow in either winter to test them properly. I did find them a bit noisy and when the weather was mild, they didn't feel quite as grippy as summer tyres but then you could say that about all winter tyres
