RRS tdv8 trans fluid change

hi guys I need help,,.?
I have recently had the trans fluid changed but not the internal gearbox filter as I just wanted a local garage to swap the oil for clean stuff.
But now I have had transmission failure on the dash which came on and went off.
The car seems to slow down now when I take my foot off the gas which it never did well not as severe as its doing now. Plus mpg has dropped by 5mpg
When I put it in neutral it just coasts along but put it in drive and it slows down again when I take my foot off the gas.
To top it all off the engine failure display came on this morning so I'm puzzled.
Please help with anything.
Cheers
Lee

The first thing you have to do is find out what oil was used in your gearbox, without the repairing garage knowing you have an issue Thumbs Up

Hi mike
The guy went on the web and got the correct oil to my knowledge 9.5 gallons
All he did was drain and fill
He said he used something to put oil in a place that was hard to get to.
But he never changed the filter.
I also had the engine oil changed.
It just doesn't feel right if you know what I mean.
Regards
Lee

I'll assume 9.5 litres Thumbs Up

A drain and refill only drains out 4.5 litres...

You need to make sure the correct spec of oil has been used, as irreparable as damage may have occurred. If you, or he can tell us what oil it was, we can check if it is suitable.
If he has used the wrong oil, then he is liable, hence my suggestion of finding out the oil used first, before informing him of your issue

The engine management fault is likely not related, but will need the fault codes read first
Most likely a split turbo hose or blocked fuel filter

Ok so this is the latest
Checked with garage and the correct oil was used. Plugged into fault code machine and a code of P2299 came up so he checked it on the inter web and it was saying brake peddle and accelerator pedal missaligned.
Did a code erase and gearbox erase and still no joy. Car is doing 17mpg on the trip ometer thingy and still slows down when foot is removed from gas pedal. I feel as if I'm making it all up but you just know when something is wrong don't you.!!!
Could it be the gas pedal is faulty and needs replacing I don't know. Also I've noticed the rev needle fluctuates a bit.
Any ideas
Cheers
Lee

I think you need some expert advise and someone that understands these vehicles to look at your vehicle, Disco Mikey is a tad too far, however there are a couple of guys near you that you could go to,
Flack based in Preston & Wiggs is Manchester based. Thumbs Up In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Would that have any impact on the gearbox though I mean will it effect the driving and make the car slow down a lot more than usual. Also it's saying accelerator pedal miss aligned too so would you change that aswell.
Thanks also for the garages fella

P2299 is "Brake pedal position/accelerator pedal position incompatible". Wink

Pressing the brake and the accelerator can cause an ESF, so as you can imagine, if the switch is failing (very, very common) then...

It is also generally liable to hold the engine and transmission back if it thinks the brakes are applied.

The accelerator pedal positions (it uses two potentiometers) can be checked and graphed with a diagnostic tool first.

Before spending any more money on diagnostics, I would just fit a new switch: http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/xkb500030...-738-p.asp

Takes 5 mins: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic30757.html

They are so prone to failure that many of us keep a spare available. Rolling Eyes

Ok that's what I'll do,!
Do I just ask for a brake switch or gas switch and is it as easy as a few screws.
Also is it on the pedal itself forgive me if I'm sounding thick I just want to be right.
Cheers lee

Yes; just a few screws, old one twists out, new one twists in, and all done. Only thing to note is not to release the plunger before fitting, or press the brake pedal when fitting it. It's located behind the top of the brake pedal. Thumbs Up

Yes, just a "brake switch" or "brake light switch". Part number is XKB500030 as per the link. I recommend you buy it from Advanced Factors, but if you want to get it elsewhere/locally then bear in mind LR will charge you more like £25 for it... Rolling Eyes
