Important, anyone considering having their car detailed

Please please please always make sure anyone you leave your car with, has the correct cover on their insurance. Yesterday my car was being detailed. The guy managed to drive it into my workshop and out of the wall on the far side. Never driven an auto before. Im uploading a video soon as my dashcam caught it all. unfortunately his brochure and business card stating 'fully insured' wasnt actually strictly correct. The RRS is now having to be repaired with cash due to no inusrance cover, because i'd left him my keys, my nsurance company dont want to know. Fair enough I suppose.

Make sure you check the actual policy before entrusting your pride and joy with anyone who may be working on it etc!!!!

Damage can be repaired. Wall will be rebuilt. But the upset, time, effort and cost to repair are eyewatering!!!

Oh dear! That's terrible. I'm just wondering how do you check the insurance? Even if you look at the certificate it doesn't mean it's still valid as the chap might have just stopped paying the premiums. Has he committed a criminal offence by claiming to be insured?

I'm unlikely to run into this problem with a detailed, but meet and greet parking is more of a worry.

I presume the driver just touched the accelerator as well/ instead of the brake?

Very true, looks to be a nice outlook, so if he doesn't fancy doors then maybe a nice window at bonnet height Whistle

Haha. In an earlier life I would have probably lost the plot and stuck his head through a wall, but im getting on now. Laughing
So, wall started being rebuilt tomorrow. Car parts are being ordered and hopefully will all arrive this week. The guys at Alive Tuning have got the car and will hopefully have time to take the bent bits off. We've had a good look under it and no damage whatsoever. Unreal. Testament to the strength of these things. I will definitely be buying another when the time comes. As for the whole criminal damage thing and checking the insurance, ive no idea except ringing their insurance and asking the question.
Criminal damage no. I gave him the keys. It was all on private land. He had never driven an auto box before. The holes in the cheese well and truly lined up on Friday for him. Poor guy is beside himself. The earlier footage and bits I edited out really do prove how much of a shock he had but I didnt post it up for that, more the enjoyment factor after the fact. You just have to laugh sometimes. We both learned a few lessons Friday. Embarassed
