Slow acceleration

After towing my caravan 2 hours with no problem got in car next day to find the car very slow to pull away takes about 30 secs before the turbo kicks in and a bit black smoke pumps out once up to speed it runs fine! Any ideas please?

EGR valves. Sounds like they have both failed. Blank them, and report back Thumbs Up

No, it's normally that the bearings fail, so cleaning yields nothing. On a EU3 car (05/06MY), they can be blanked without any software modifications, so this is cheap, easy and better for the engine and fuel economy. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Hi been on computer at garage today both valves have faults on them he cleared them but came back on again. I told him to blank them but he just said I should go to a range rover dealer for repairs as he isn't comfortable working onit. I'm on holiday about 100miles away, do you think it will be ok to drive home to go to my local garage I trust? As I say it drives fine once up to speed just a bit smoke off turbo? Many thanks

Depends really, only you know how bad it is? The lag can get quite dangerous pulling out of juctions, so be sure to keep it in mind. Thumbs Up

Any decent garage should be capable of blanking the EGRs - there's nothing complex about it; it just requires a little care. There's a full guide here if he wants to take a look: http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use...0SMALL.pdf Wink Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
