There is a thread on this, I think if you disconnect the "siren" it diverts back to normal horn.

It does, on the pre-2010 models.

Unplug the BBS/alarm sounder in with the brake cylinder, and the car will then use the main horns for the alarm

This will not work on 2010 or newer cars.

Probably not, the same probably applies to house alarms.

Hi Mikey, any chance of a pic of this plug you need to disconnect for the sounder to switch to the horn, left my window open last night alarm was going off ( car on my drive ) and i never heard it all night

IIRC this has been an issue since 2005 but there is a reason why it is quiet.................... maybe none of you are old enough to remember that in the late 1990's and early 2000's there were millions of complaints about car alarms shattering the neighbourhood peace at 2am when people we sleepling and the local tom cats were climbing all over cars setting off alarms, there was legislation passed that meant that car alarms were not allowed to exceed a certain volume, that they must reset after 30 sdeconds and some other obscure things and are not supposed to give loud peeps of the horn when locking/ unlocking. That is why the alarm is relatively quiet, it is meant as a deternt (big joke) to potential car break ins rather than to alert the entire neighbourhood that a car has a faulty alarm system........ If you make it louder just becareful that you don't get an ASBO for having a too loud car alarm when your neighbours complain if you get repeating alarms at 2am. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
