United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Santorini Black
Engine system failure

I'm getting this message and a loss of power, have to coast along and then go into emergency lane and turn off engine. Wait 3 minutes then restart and ok for say 30-60 minutes.

Seems to be worse when driving up hill and above 60mph

I'm currently on holiday in South of France and car has been driving in temperatures of 34-38 degrees c so not sure if this is anything to do with it?

Worryingly I have a 800 mile drive coming up to get back to uk with dog and 6 month yr old in the car

I can call green flag who I'm covered by abroad but not done yet as was wondering if the issue may go away as I get to cooler climates....(wishful thinking....)

Any thoughts/ diagnostics welcome

P.s its a RRS 2007 tdv8 HSE

Thanks

Any smoke when driving, loss of power just before it fails?

Intercooler may not be cooling the engine air temperature enough possibly.
Could also be fuel filter.

Need to see fault codes or live values really. Bodsys Brake Bible

No smoke , get 'engine system fault ' on dash then no power in acceleration , just coasts to a standstill. Switch off , start up again and seems to be ok.

Not sure how I can get the fault codes?

Thanks

France 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 SE Siberian Silver

Hello. I have a TDV8 here in France. We do all the maintenance here in our own workshop, as can't afford the mortgage that would be needed to pay for French servicing. All that is, except taking it back to the UK last year for a body off and new turbos .............. but when the body was off, they found it was both exhaust manifolds having warped that was causing the problem! Fitted the new turbos anyway, as the body was off. Have had split top intercooler hoses before (2), and all in all are well accustomed to engine system fault codes and re-booting from limp mode. Sad New problem now: same old symptoms, but with what sounds like a fan roar, emulating engine revs, but trailing the actual engine slightly. My diag unit gives P0101 and P023D - same old, same old - so I am suspecting a broken bottom turbo air hose, allowing me to hear the turbo roar. Had an hour to look at it the other day, and took the skid plate off, and then the two plastic shrouds on the chassis either side of the suspension, but of course that didn't let me see anything. Should the next move be to remove the inner plastic wheel arch? Any advice gratefully received!

I have the same problem with my tdv8. Did you find the problem with your tdv8? I am off to the dealer tomorrow but mine goes into limp mode every few kilometers so any advice would be appreciated. Regards Chris
