Passenger air-bag warning light

Hi all,

I think this may have been done to death in other topics but I just wanted to check to make sure I'm on the right track.

I have a passenger air-bag warning light that reappears every time the car is started. SDD reports both U1A00-88 "Private bus circuit" (which SDD says was the reason the dash warning lamp is lit) and U0073-88 "Control module communications bus off".

To paraphrase the helpful information in SDD, it looks like a connection fault most probably under the passenger seat - a dodgy connection maybe. As I wasn't in the car when it appeared last week I'm not sure if someone was playing with the seat at the time.

However, what's the best way to get at the connections under the seat - the plate in front of the connectors/SatNav DVD seems like a bit of a sod to remove and I cant find any helpful pictures on-line.

Can anyone recommend the best way forward?

Thanks! 'tang.

The covers just pull off, but the tabs can easily break so keep it nice and straight. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Ah, see what you mean - all removed safely... but I can't see anything obvious with the wiring - all cables seem to be in their correct places/wire ties etc. and don't 'seem' to be rubbed against anything.

I'm going to undo the hex-screw to get into the large connector to check that but is there anything else I should be looking for?

It's most commonly high resistance on the seatbelt pre-tensioner wiring because it gets stretched when the seat moves. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks for the pointers. In fact it's me being thick as two short planks. Whistle

The warning light came on about 500 miles ago and is flagged as an intermittent DTC (broken chain-link in picture) not an active DTC (unbroken chain-link in picture) - so after checking the connectors the first thing I should do is clear the DTCs and see if it came back.

Yeah, that's what I didn't do - so the warning lamp was never going to go out. Doh! Embarassed

The DTCs are now cleared, warning light is off, quick run around the block and through a few lanes and the light is still off. Very Happy

Thanks for the pointers.
