Vehicle Excahnge

Hi
has anyone gone down the path of having to exchange a vehicle with a dealer because of a fault, that can tell me what the process is?
looks like my Sport may need to be exchanged. Dealer has been great while dealing with things, and it was actually their suggestion that this may be the route to take.
is the vehicle bought back at the price I paid, or simply exchanged?

Oh , please PM me too, as I am having a nightmare with Peter Vardy in Aberdeen, LR customer services and have resorted to get the finance company involved to get the car rejected.....

Not a scenario I would wish on anyone!!!

hopefully common sense will be the outcome, but never going near Peter Vardy in Aberdeen again, the Service manager has definitely done his best, but sales have a huge Zero!!!!. You are all warned.....

Pete at Land Rover is unfortunately off ill, which has been a major let down by the remaining customer support via the LR customer services, plenty of talk, but to be honest nothing at all resolved or pro active assistance we the owners would consider pro-active resolution of a problem, so all I can say is LR are losing touch with problems they have,

so far in the last two weeks I have personnel seen,

my RRS 3.0 with 3 month of faults and 10K of warranty to date!!

a brand new MY16 discovery with AddBlue breakdown after 7 miles and was still in the workshop after a week!!

another customer returned a MY15 RRS as the paint and car had defects from factory and again failed to address to customer satisfaction.

so from what I have seen and with other issues of poor panel alignments even on the SVR's with paintwork suffering Land Rover are not listening or fixing basic failings on cars before leaving the factory.

I hope someone at LR reads the forum as they had better buck up there Ideas or the owners will vote with their feet and change marques brands, and never come back, yet another British screw up, sell it to TATA and now we are seeing the results......... None currently

I've had my battles with dealers and won - it would of been nicer to have got things sorted without the stress but best not to dwell on it. At the end of the day I keep coming back because I haven't found anything else out there that I like as much and now have the experience to resolve problems quickly if they occur Thumbs Up

The dealers are the problem and I think LR need to grow a pair and sort it but the rocketing sales are not giving them an incentive to do this Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

This is crucial Thumbs Up

Quote:
You discover the fault within six months

The responsibility is normally on you rather than the dealer to prove that a car is faulty in some way. However, the responsibility is on the dealer to prove that the car was of satisfactory quality when you bought it, if you discover the fault within the first six months and you are asking for:

a repair or
a replacement or
a full or partial refund where a repair or replacement isn't possible, would cause significant inconvenience to you as the buyer or would cost a disproportionate amount to the dealer.
Where the dealer is responsible for proving the car is of a satisfactory quality, they have to prove the fault wasn’t present using evidence such as an independent report into the car’s condition.

You discover the fault after the first six months

If you discover the fault after the first six months, you should contact the dealer you bought the car from, to give them the opportunity to inspect the car and where possible put the problem right. The responsibility is on you after six months to prove the car was faulty when sold, so you may have to provide evidence to support your claim.

You can do this by getting a report from another garage. However there may be a cost,so always check first. You can then provide the dealer with a written report of the other garage's findings. If it supports your claim, you will be in a stronger position.

You will need to get a second opinion before you get the work done at another garage if you want to claim the costs back from the dealer.

You may also be able to claim compensation for any other loss you've had as a result of the fault,

If the garage refuses to put things right

If the garage refuses to put things right, check whether they belong to a trade association with a code of practice setting out standards of service they must follow. You can use this to show the garage that they must put the problem right.

If negotiations fail, you could consider using an alternative dispute resolution scheme. Check to see if the trade association has such a scheme.

I intend to Finance my next purchase because you have more protection (and I'm tying all my money up in a house move). In this scenario you write to dealer and finance company - the finance company will then apply pressure on dealer to avoid financial loss to themselves Twisted Evil Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I know this is probably controversial advice but why not just sell up and cash your monies....demand is still pretty high for these cars right now with nearly new cars still selling above list Shocked
