I think it is a good choice. Considered it myself when I was looking to downsize and the test drive didn't let down, bearing in mind a decently spec'd DS is about half the price of a nicely spec'd RRS2. I don't go off tarmac but want my car to handle snow well, which I am sure DS is capable of. Ticks some other boxes too for us. Due to being spoilt by our RRSs and space + comfort consideration for long journeys, we decided against downsizing this time (and agreed to look into it on next change) otherwise I would have probably gone for it. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Well I think they are gorgeous looking cars and I was super impressed with the quality of the interior....I think it's a great choice and I think the resale value will be fantastic....a perfect family car with that ability to cater for all needs...

There's an orange one at Beadles in Sidcup at the moment and it looks stunning!

I wish they would do one with the SDV6 3.0 litre engine! And come to think of it an Evoque with a SDV6 would be a blast! Very Happy

Thanks for the support - good to know I'm not crazy Bow down

An SDV6 would be nice as the DS is not as fast as some of the competition but I've looked at them and still can't force myself to buy an import. Besides with the speed tax now driving fast has lost it's appeal Embarassed

Test drive today with an open mind before I take the leap Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

I really like the DS, would definitely go for one if I were to downsize...but I just couldn't give up the Sport now...I love it too much. Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil

Right so we drove to dealers in sons punto to make sure we weren't spoiled beforehand Wink

Off we go in very nice hse lux and as said noticeable engine noise pulling away and tyre noise from rear boot area but plenty of power I thought and once up to cruising speed engine purrs nicely. Still some road noise though. Windy country roads were a little bumpy and some body roll Confused

So back to showroom and drooled over a new rrs for a few minutes then looked at £72k price tag and remembered price of DS I'm ordering and deciced £32k is enough money to compensate me for a bit more engine/road noise Bow down

This was the old 2.2 unit out of the FL2 so expect the new 2.0 Jag engine will be better Cool

Agree rrs is in another league but so is price and I think DS is pretty good value for money - job well done LR Thumbs Up Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Nice choice MW, the DS looks like a nice bit of kit. Thumbs Up I had a good poke around in one at the dealer a few months ago and thought it was well thought out and remarkably spacious. Compared to the "fat Evoque" look of the RRS2 I think it looks good from all angles. I could see myself in one if the Ingenium proves to be a good step up from the old 2.2.

As for those who say "it's not a Land Rover" etc. - how many take their RRS anywhere other than the supermarket car park? Now that's an glorified "estate car" for you! Whistle

Regarding your comment about the RRS's winter ability, I can confirm that with the correct tyres it'll happily rescue others up snow covered hills. Bow down 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes RRSTDV8 it's like the tardis - bigger on the inside than the outside - I had to get in and out a couple of times to check Laughing

Agree on tyres - after the near disastrous experience I purchased a mint set of 19" alloys and fitted brand new conti winter tyres for winter use but never really got the chance to fully test them. I will be offering them on here shortly with all my other surplus accessories Thumbs Up

Never had problems with previous LR vehicles so will see how DS handles this winter before forking out again for another set Rolling Eyes

Nothing says LR like a set of 22" alloys and a body kit does it Rolling with laughter Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Your winter issues with RRS must be "driver error" Whistle In my experience RRS can cope with snow very well and I don't even mean the typical 0.5 cm deep layer of UK snow. Were you driving the RRS with the same due care as the FL2 or expecting a 2.5T beast on summer tyres to do magical things? I was driving it same way I'd driven my previous FL1s FL2s and D2s but this was first time I'd left skid marks anywhere but the road Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

It was the previous MY10 that I traded for the black edition - I fitted winter tyres to this one to maintain the clean look of the leather Laughing Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

United States 2006 Range Rover Sport 4.4 V8 HSE Zambezi Silver

LRO had good review of disco sport - June edition pp36

Yes, it looks good outside, but interior is not same class as Rrs. Ride is not good on b- roads, handling is good - but clearly steel springs have limitations - our air suspension gives better ride/handling/off road compromise. Modest ground clearance is an issue if you want to venture off-road. Of course if you just want an on-road suv with landrover badge this has a lot more room that the évoque ....

Hi sterling01

Nothing wrong with my RRS - love it Mr. Green

However after 20 years in the same house and just a few grand left to pay on the mortgage we've decided to move to a nicer house, rent out our old house that we split in 2 after the kids left and expand/relocate our business so.........

Thanks to the greedy Bankers (substitute W for B if you wish) screwing up the country - to get a mortgage I've had to sell everything I can then once money approved could buy it all back Big Cry

Once we move I hope to have 3 lots of rent coming in and bigger business premises so what I'm losing now will soon be recovered. I've thought about a new RRS or FFRR but just me and SWMBO most of time and not planning to buy another caravan so DS will do me fine - she doesn't know it yet but I may put the £30k I've saved downsizing to a Jag XKR or F-type Whistle

I would of put 2 years extended warranty on it next year and kept it another 3 years if we weren't moving - I got one of the good ones this time again. The dealer will see the rewards though not me Sad Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
