Supercharged Brembo Pad Replacement

Just looking for a little advice please. Last night an amber brake warning lamp came on along with a "check brake pads" message. The amber light goes off every time I press the brake which is a bit odd but besides the point I guess as the message constantly pops up. I understand from searching and reading on here that the sensor is only on one pad so I need to replace them (and the sensor) asap.

Can someone please confirm if this is the correct part number for the pads (My SC has Brembo brakes) - SFP500070 ?

Assuming it's correct and these are my pad choices: https://www.lrdirect.com/SFP500070-Front-B..._https=yes there's a big range in prices. I've always tended to use Ferrodo over the years with no problems... are the Land Rover ones really worth almost £100 more? I've no issue with spending that much on them if I need to but just don't want to throw money away needlessly.

Annoying thing is the car was MOT'd without any issues in January (just before I bought the car) so I must admit I'm a bit miffed that they didn't fail it back then as they must have been wafer thin (I've only done about 1500 miles in it)...

Thanks for the quick replies guys - reassuring to know I'm looking at the right ones! Don't think I'll be getting the Land Rover ones Wink

Bit confused over the sensor cable - any idea which one I need? Island & LRDirect list several, some depending on chassis number. AF just list the one... ?

In the pictures that come up they both look the same and the fact Steve only has one type (shame it's the later one) would suggest that they are compatible but... Confused Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Thanks - they're pretty inexpensive so I've ordered both. Can either send the other one back or sell it or whatever... less bother than having to jack the car up and remove the wheel a second time the following weekend if I pick the wrong one! Wink

In case anyone stumbles across this thread when searching in the future the sensor cable to go with is SEM500090 Thumbs Up

Very easy job - didn't even need to remove the callipers - just knock out some retaining pins and pull the pads out. Only annoying part was plugging the sensor cable in as you have to get behind the plastic wheel arch trim.

If you see the warning on the dash don't delay in replacing them - the sensor is very close to metal. I probably drove a total of about 50 miles after the warning first popped up and this is how low the pads were...

The worn out sensor. Annoyingly this pad probably had the most meat left on it compared to the other three...

Yes that removal of the wheelarch liner just to plug the sensor in is a PIA - what a daft design.

Which pads did you plump for in the end and how are they for feel and noise and dust so far? Only asking as I will need to do mine again before too long.

Last time I bought from Land Rover but now their spares prices have been hiked to such a ridiculous level I'm looking for an alternative. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Too early to comment on dust as I only fitted them yesterday but they feel pretty much the same as the ones that came off in terms of braking.

As for brand - I stuck with Ferodo as I've been buying them since I got my very first car (Cortina Mk 5) and they've never disappointed. Don't really understand what exactly you are paying for if you opt for the Land Rover branded ones...

Cheers Zaphod,

Must be less dust than the LR branded then - mine put dust on the rims even after a quick trip to the shops and back.

Ahhh - Cortinas now that brings back memories - I had a brand new silver Mk3 GXL as a company car when I was 21. Hammered it to death all over the country )and my girlfriend loved it. That sensuous coke bottle shape..... (the car - not the girlfriend). 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

I passed my test in 87 so the Mk3's still left around were rusting away and I needed something reliable. The Mk5 made more sense seeing as I couldn't afford a brand new Sierra... I always wanted a Mk3 when I was a teenager though... reminded me of something from Starsky & Hutch...

Just opening an old thread....

Just looking to replace the Brembo Pads on my 2.7. When ive looked online im getting the same parts code as the SC (Mentioned above - SFP500070) and just wanted to clarify that they are indeed the same code for the pads before I pay?

Oh.... and do all models come with wear sensors? Its just that mine have not flashed up as requiring a change, but I know they do after an inspection.

Cheers! 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

SFP500070 will fit all 4 pot Brembo calipers Thumbs Up
Wear sensor is handy to have, just in case, as they can break when removed from the old pad
