Warrantywise - Opinions and Experienced Advice?

Hi guys, took out a warranty with Warrantywise for 12 months costing just under £600. Now I am within the 30 days so still have the opportunity to cancel it.

What I want to find out is has anyone had experience with Warrantywise specifically? How are they to deal with? Do they keep their word? Also what T's and C's should I look out for? The terminology they use in terms and conditions makes me wonder whether they will ever pay out on anything should anything go wrong!

Should I keep or cancel and put the money towards any future repairs/faults?

Thanks in advance. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

Cheapskates sums them up in my experience

Have a gold scheme.provided by the dealer I bought the rrs from.....
fos wheel bearing collapsed, damaged the disc - they would not cover the other disc or the brake shoes!
Servo not keeping up with the brake.pedal - a fault which developed after I picked up the car and is getting worse. Denied as not a sudden failure.
Personally, I'm appalled by their cheapskate attitude. Not covering both discs is a complete joke, let alone the servo.
And the Indy I take my car to described them as the worst firm they'd dealt with.

Warrantywise, in my experience as a repairer, are Censored

They appear to cover lots, but have lots and lots of exclusions, which gets them out of paying out on almost claim...
One of which was turbo failure on a TDV8. They wanted the turbos removed from the engine and sent away for inspection, to their recommended turbo centre, at the customers cost...

In the last 6 years or so, and despite careful wording of claims, I have had 1 successful claim, for a leaking airbag on an FFRR.

Personally, would stump up the extra £200 and go for Warranty Direct. They generally authorise claims on the spot Thumbs Up

Same experience as above, my RRS came with one of these gold level plans. Only once did it pay out and only covered the cheapest part they could source over the Internet not a genuine LR replacement part so I had to cover the difference myself. Biggest issue is their policy on decision making which takes so long the garage ends up with your car stuck on a ramp - you end up just paying yourself or facing a bill for their ramp time.

For the extra money just buy a genuine LR policy! TDV8 Java Black, Overfinch 22s

I forgot about that bit. I had to give them (WarrantyWise) the part number, they went onto LRDirect and got the cheapest aftermarket part from that website. They also did not cover the VAT element of the part...

Same (cheapest part they could find) with me. I paid the extra for genuine discs and pads.

I would stick your £600 in a savings account and hope that it will grow, you will always know that it is there if you need it for any problems and then you can chose who fixes your car and with what parts.

This is probably the main thing that is stopping me getting back into RRS ownership, you know it's going to go wrong, it's just a matter of when, and how much it's going to cost you.
I suppose the choices are simple, either buy from a main dealer and get a decent warranty, ( but obviously you're going to be paying top dollar for the vehicle ), or make sure you can afford to repair it, if, sorry, when it goes wrong.
Otherwise look at something else, ( but I do love them ). 2005 Vesuvius 1st edition ( now sadly gone ).

Are they really that unreliable?

I've had an itch to own one for a while but the only thing putting me off is the alleged unreliability. The sort of thing I have been looking at is a 2012 / 2013 from a main dealer (probably Guy Salmon) which would come with a two year LR warranty.

Is the manufacturer's warranty on an RRS bulletproof as I'm happy to pay the extra to buy from a main dealer if it will give me peace of mind motoring

Can't comment on LR main dealer warranty, but whenever I look at buying a different vehicle I always look for forums like this just to try and get a "real world " idea of what the vehicle is like to actually own and live with.
It just seems that every time I visit here someone is having a problem, and who ever, ( not all ), is looking at it can't seem to trace the fault.
Then, when they do, it usually means your bank balance is that nasty shade of red.
It's a real shame as I really enjoyed owning my first edition, and would love to get back into ownership.
I'm sure someone will come along in a minute and advise on main dealer warranties. 2005 Vesuvius 1st edition ( now sadly gone ).

You should be fine with a 2012 model especially with manufacturer warranty . Had mine getting on 2 years and has been faultless .

I'd agree. It's easy to get a skewed opinion from forums as people will talk about their problems, rather than posting 'No trouble in 5 years and 100,000 miles'.

OK, there's a few more bits to go wrong with a RRS and early ones can now be had for 'sensible' prices, but things can go wrong on any vehicle..... I bought mine from a non LR garage and it came with 3 months WarrantyWise Gold cover. People have been more favourable about other 3rd party warranty schemes. I've said all I need to say about WarrantyWise earlier in this thread. Rolling Eyes Censored Censored

Thanks for your comments which have helped put my mind at rest.

I won't be buying until Autumn as I currently have a BMW 3 series convertible and I'd be silly to sell that without getting the maximum use out of it this summer
