United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey
Sport Bingo!

We all know that there is a list of common/typical issues that affect the RRS. It appears that my vehicle is intent on playing bingo with that list. I'm worried what will happen if it ever gets to "house!".

The latest problem is the driver's door latch issue. Many RRS, Disco, FFRR and FL2 drivers have suffered with this one over the years. The symptoms are that the latch doesn't lock/unlock properly. Curing it usually requires a new latch. Not an expensive component as far as I can tell.

Looking around Disco3, it appears to be a DIY job; however, the write ups I've found have varied in ease/time taken and I've decided that spending up to 3 hours (worst case seen) swearing at the car on my driveway isn't on my "to do" list for this weekend. So, it's booked in next week for a "while you wait" session at my local indie. Hopefully it goes smoothly and doesn't cause some other issue a few days/weeks later. Should take them an hour. I have no doubt that the window will decide to play up shortly afterwards... Big Cry

I get periods of "this vehicle is a great place to be" interspersed with thoughts of parking it on the road side and writing "AASVOGEL" down its flanks! Censored

Admittedly I'm hammering through 2.5k+ miles a month at the moment but I can't help feeling that a £50k+ modern vehicle ought to be able to handle that. Hell, £10k modern vehicles can! 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Scotland 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 SE Santorini Black

Yip, had the door latch (passengers) and the alternator, and the wishbone bushes, and the parking bake module, and the air suspension compressor.......all in the last 10000 miles on a 56000 mile car.....what else could go wrong!
Now that the car is 5 years old I keep telling myself that if I throw £3k/year at it, it's a cheap car! Man maths at its best!😄

Still love it, but what else comes close without part ex-ing it for a £65-70k replacement?

Cheers
Dave MY10 TDV6 SE (debadged Wink ), Santorini Black, Flappy paddles, Privacy Glass, 20" Stormers, Mudflaps!

Gone: a comprehensive list of imprezas and a Merc ML AMG

Had the new latch fitted today at James French at Standlake. £160 all in which considering there's £25 of VAT and £90 for the latch is pretty good. To save myself an afternoon of swearing at it on the drive seems like a bargin! Rolling with laughter

I was amazed how quickly they fitted it - a little over half an hour which compares favourably to the 1-3 hour range found over on Disco3. I guess the correct tools and knowing the little knacks makes a big difference with this sort of job.

Ha ha! I know exactly what you mean there. I keep having the same conversation with myself. I'm coming to the idea of buying something "comfortable but ordinary" for the commute and keeping the Sport as a towing/shooting/play thing.

I'm also tempted by one of the off road tours to somewhere like the Pyrennes or Portugal - it's just the reliability fears that put me off! Embarassed Must just get my finger out I suppose, although we've just booked a few weeks in the US this summer so I might have to get "managerial consent" for such a trip... Whistle Man maths never seems to work when you explain it out loud! Rolling with laughter 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
