Connecting iPhone 5, how to play my music?

I have connected my iPhone through Bluetooth to my 2011 RRS with no problems, can I play my music via this connection, or do I need a special lead? Tried using the standard USB lead with no joy

John

You cannot play music via Bluetooth on your car. For iPhone you need a special lead have a look under the centre console there might be a lead already there. But then you'll need to get a lightening adaptor for iPhone 5 onwards. But once you have the bits it works fine , you can change tracks via the steering wheel controls and see track title on the display.

Get a proper Apple one £25, the cheap ones you find on eBay don't work.

Correct I made that mistake, £1.99 from ebay and would charge but not play. Get a genuine apple adaptor and it works fine.

I got mine from Argos a few weeks ago, they were doing them for £20, but just checked and it's back to £25.

What? I have a Nov 2011 RRS and I've got my Android phone connected which streams audio over bluetooth.
I had a friend in the car last week with an iPhone 6 and theirs works fine too - just go to my music, and the square on the right is the bluetooth streaming - his mum has a disco 4 HSE which has an almost identical interior and tech to my RRS and that works with her iphone 6 too?

Late 2011 onwards you can use Bluetooth, before that you have to use the lead.
