Five days into ownership

Dear all

5 days into my RRS autobiography ownership. Previously owned the 2011 version.

What I love about the new car.

Loved my old car shape but find the new version even more pleasing. The rounded corners really work for me and it looks even more menacing with the black grill as opposed to the previous silver one.

The 3L diesel appears to have considerably more poke than the engine in the 2011 version. Acceleration from standstill is particularly good.

Love the panoramic roof and the mood lighting. Especially how the internal lights and dashboard turn red when the car is put into dynamic mode.

The heated and cooled seats are great. Very toasty when they need to be.

The blind spot monitoring works well and already I wouldn't want not to have it.

Things that bug me a little

The rear seats don't fold flat in the new car. In the 2011 model the seats came up before the backrest folds down giving a completely flat loading area. This doesn't happen in the 2015 model. Why change this???

The software that runs the main screen is still slow to respond but no slower than the 2011 version. However the take me home button has been removed from the home screen. Why do this? Instead of one press to set the sat nav for home it now takes 3.

The steering wheel has less girth. I miss my chunky wheel. Sad

All in all happy with the new car. Photos here. http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic40222.html

Best regards

Agreed. It is a step backwards. I found flat folding rear seats very useful on many occasions. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Thanks for the clarity. Good to know why. I used it a lot as the RRS is my family car and going to the tip car Smile

My other ride is not that useful for the tip. Smile

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

The previous fold flat design gave a very useful out of sight stowage area under the seat cushion, in winter I kept my winter recovery gear stored under there and in summer I kept my off-road recovery kit under them. I too rarely used the full boot capacity on either of my previous RRS's but this is something I do miss on my new one. I suspect it all has something to do with the optional and very slow selling midget seats that can be specced in the boot. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Fold flat rear seats are a must-have. I get two bulk bags full of garden waste in mine with the seats flat. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

^^^ My most recent use of fold flat seats was for the same reason. It will take even more trips if I have to shift the same amount of stuff but fortunately it is not something I have to do frequently. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
