Mine is a 2015 yes it has a inbuilt tracker and yes it has incontrol but if the car is taken without the key as is done here there is no way to know until RR call and by that time your car could be in a trailer somewhere............ |

Whatever the thief did it appears that the indicators did not operate on unlock like my 2015MY car has. I wonder if the car was not locked but the mirrors folded and this was an opportunist theft............... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

See how the thief gingerly opens the door...he's not too sure if the alarm is going to go off. |

Doesn't look like the mirrors were folded as they don't appear to unfold when the scrote drives off. ETA: almost certainly a key fob grab as the interior light is on at the start of the video so probably unlocked it as he was walking up to it before the video clip starts. Don't use the fob to lock/unlock!!! |

Because as in the case of most thefts, and it appears this one, the scrote gains entry to the car by waiting behind a wall or bush and grabs the signal from the remote and then unlocking the car. Once inside they have access to the OBD port. |

Sorry I have to disagree about using the door buttons in preference to the fob. If you have the fob on you it is continuously transmitting a very very week signal looking for the car's correpsondingly weak signals - about 1m range (although yesterday I managed to open my car's boot from about 15m!). When you press the button on the fob it sends a coded command to operate the locks/ lights or whatever. I would suspect either a member of staff at a dealership cloning the fob when the car has been in for a service or the owner has used a valeting service/carwash/ valet parking somewhere and has at sometime handed over the fob to a low life. Near to where I am there used to be a carwash bay inside the local shop centre covered carpark, after a whole lot of car thefts - mostly Audi and BMW saloons - local police put 2+2 together and caught the carwash staff cloning the fobs in a sting operation. As customers had to leave their keys with the car washing team so they could repark the cars elsewhere in the carpark to work on the next car so they had the opertunity to do what they wanted with the car/ key fob while the innocent where shopping for a couple of hours. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
