not the independent question again ???

hi all new member here just bought a 07MY 2.7tdv6 HSE, its just had lower arms, ball joints and Anti roll bars changed by the dealer i bought it from.

I'm sure you've had this question asked many times as i have read loads to find the answer but alas no answers that i can see, i live in north london just 5mins from herts, there is a few specialists near me and I'm unsure as to who has the best reputation or feedback if anybody has any views on them would love to hear them, the ones i have seen so far are

lespauls motors
brunswick garage
brookfields garage
AJD Landrovers
MRH landrover

does anybody have any experience of these or another localish specialist \

i plan on having a full service done asap and the cam belts done

now with regards to cambelts service i have read so much as to what some people do and dont change I'm confused
obviously both belts front and back, pulleys tensioners, and i have read somewhere that the 07MY its advisable to change the oil pump casing (forgive me if I'm slightly wrong with the list of componants)

stratstone have a offer of 599 for service and cam belt change or 399 for just cam belt change, my nearest stratstone is hailnut,
but i don't fancy a apprentice working on my car so am not averse to an independent doing this work instead, also i have asked them to email me a breakdown of exactly what componants are changed in 'their' cam belt service which I'm still waiting for

look forward to your comments

Cant offer advice on those indies as I'm not from London but as a benchmark in price etc, I have recently just had all 3 belts changed, cambelt, aux belt and fuel pump belt, pulleys/rollers, my oil casing was checked and found to be fine, had oil change, coolant change, brake fluid change, oil filters, pollen filters etc and dif oils changed all for £700 at my local indie garage using all oem parts. I'm not Fat. thanks for quick replys, yes 599 offer does seem rather a good price I'm just waiting to hear from them as to what they're gonna change, hopefully all 3 belts and pulleys and tensioners, if theres a chance they will do oil pump for free that would be great but i won't be holding my breath, maybe a call to customer care to test the waters before asking the dealer. so i take it that it is advisable to get the oil pump changed and it wasn't just a few random cases of these failing. also gonna be getting a wheel alignment done if anybody knows of a good place near me (north london) I'm aware of the tight tolerance mode and will be checking they do that. i was gonna use north one land rover for their offer of 79.99 wheel alignment but seen a few people saying they just try to find additional work, i know all dealers do this but from what I've read they seem to be worse than normal and secondly after requesting a quote for 105k service from them which took them over a week to get to me cause of computer failure I'm not impressed with service already and secondly the 'discounted' Rolling with laughter quote was 1379.00

ill stick with stratstone for now i think unless a better recommendation comes up.

If its all the belts and pulleys and a service for £599 I would be very surprised. Seems to good to be true. It sounds like they're just quoting for the cambelt to be replaced to me which is the easy one. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

you may well be right which is why i have asked for complete breakdown of the works, i have had enough experience of bmw main dealers to know u have to double check everything and nothing beats having it in black and white ill update as to what is actually included when i find out but the service you got seems very good i would be happy with a figure like that if it changes all the fluids, was it a land rover specialist you used or just a normal independent garage.

having only used bmw main dealers for the last how many years I'm rather lacking in the knowledge of indy garages i can use

Yes it was a local indie garage here however I knew someone else who had work done on his range rover there and found out theyve done a few range rovers with all the belts, they do all the belts in situe and even though most indies always say don't bother with back belt they will do it for you. Thats what takes the time. I'm not Fat. RRS TDV6 HST.

I thought I would jump onto this thread and as a similar question to the OP that does not appear to have been answered.

Anyone in North London that uses independent specialists ?

If so, which ones would you recommend ?

Local ones I could find are:

Brookfields - http://www.brookfieldsgarage.co.uk

Aylmer - http://www.aylmer.co.uk

AJD - http://www.ajdlandrovers.co.uk Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

I plan to have my MOT I November done by this place http://www.brunswickgarage.com/

I will then get it serviced at a main dealer to keep the full LR service history (for now). L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Thanks. I know one of the guys at Brunswick well but have to admit I thought they specialised in VW/Audi/BMW. Just checked and they seem to now do LR as well. May use them as my friend will ensure it is all done properly.

I have had LR servicing all the way but wasn't impressed last year and the prices are getting worse so thought I would try a specialist. Proud owner of a 2008 TDV8 HSE.....and an Audi A3 2.0T DSG Cab and a Porsche 911 Turbo (Mercedes W208 320 CLK and Mercedes W124 E220 Estate now gone)

i can now answer this myself, having had work done at a garage the work was ok but they seemed to have a rather lack of knowledge about the sport and everything seemed to take an eternity resulting in trips back and forward, i have SINCE used MRH LANDROVER SPECIALISTS in hertford, they are very friendly and more than helpful and have gone the extra mile with my car, they come across extremely knowledgable and i would without a doubt use them again.
they have an impressive array of land rovers they were working on during my visit including a number of sports

i did try and get some work done at brunswick when first looking for a garage but after calling 3 times and being told well get some prices and call you back they never did which Censored me off to say the least

hope this may help someone Thumbs Up

also forgot to say MRH only charge £32 for a mot too so i know were ill be going in october
