Mine have been like this from new.

Driving across Europe in early Aug was raining everywhere - it drove me nuts!

Calais - Brugges - Brussels - Champagne = RAIN

Luxembourg - Strasbourg - Baden Baden = RAIN

D3Matt, kept forgetting to get the part number. Unfortunately JayMann's suggestion does not work as the wipers just continue to their resting place when the ignition is turned off! Hence no part number.
